Universities in Denmark are introducing background checks, made by the Police Intelligence Service, for researcher position applicants. Why? To minimize the risk of espionage. A pilot test at Aarhus University has shown that between 5-10% of the applicants were potential spies. Intelligence services say that there is a real threat of espionage in research labs around Denmark.
