Conscription instead of prison for first time violent offenders

The minister of justice, Peter Hummelgaard said in an interview that he is looking closely at the idea of offering first-time offenders the choice between prison and going into the army. The thinking behind this is that it will ease the pressure on the prison system while at the same time giving the criminals a chance to straighten themselves out.
