Aside from my work, I'm also a mom of four and have a deep passion for digital marketing and graphic design. I'm always seeking opportunities to expand my knowledge and gain experience in social media and content creation while making a positive impact for the community. What motivates me the most is my strong desire to make information accessible to everyone. I believe that access to information is crucial for everyone, and I am excited to be a part of a team that is working towards making that a reality for internationals living in Denmark. I find it fulfilling to use my skills to make a positive impact in the community!

Anda Macovei

Romanian Team (Editor)

Hi! My name is Anda Macovei and I am the editor of the Romanian version of the Last Week in Denmark newsletter. I came to Denmark more than 10 years ago to study and have never left. I have had different jobs over time, from cleaning to factories, and currently I work in the customer service department in a logistics company. I use my free time to try all kinds of new hobbies and I have a huge passion for baking cakes. Time in the kitchen is really relaxing for me.

My name is Maria Fuentes, I am Master's student in Development and International Relations at Aalborg University, Denmark. Professional in International Relations from Universidad del Norte, Barranquilla, Colombia. I have experience working in internalization, project management, coordination of events and administration. I am fluent in English and Spanish and have and intermediate level for French and (after my two years living in Denmark) Danish. I have a passion for different cuisines and baking. I came across Last Week in Denmark when I was during my internship in 2022 and I found myself connecting more with the Danish society and system because I was able to understand what was happening. After a couple weeks of reading the newsletter, I proposed to Narcis, the principal editor, to start the Spanish version. In November 2022 we published the first Spanish version and since then I am the editor for the Spanish version. My team and I love the work we do every week and we hope you can enjoy it too.

Ignacio Talavera Cepeda

Spanish Team (Corector)

Hi! I’m Ignacio Talavera, and I’m from Madrid, Spain. I moved to Denmark almost two years ago, when I finished my BSc in Computer Science in my hometown and decided to go abroad for my MSc. I’ve been living and studying in Aarhus ever since, in the Computer Science department of Aarhus University. I help the team mainly as a proofreader, but sometimes I help with translation, it depends on how we organize ourselves during the week. And it’s also quite refreshing to be that flexible! I joined the team to give an impulse to the Spanish edition of a newsletter that I was already reading. As a computational linguist, I know how important it is to maintain quality sources of information in as many languages as possible, and both English and Spanish are such big parts of my daily life that I enjoy the process a lot.

Ana Macarena Macri

Spanish Team (Translator and proofreader)

My name is Ana Macarena Macri, I´m from Argentina, I moved to Denmark a year ago. I´m a medical doctor and I´m working for a company as a medical advisor. In the team my task is to be a proofreader, but we help each and cover each other if we need to, so our roles change every week, it´s very easy to work with a team like this! I wanted to join the group for all those people who decided to put their lives on a suitcase, in my case from Latin America and move to a country with a whole different culture and language. And sometimes you even miss reading your own language and stay in touch with that part of your life, and I wanted to contribute, even with this small gesture.

Ariadna Tagliorette

I'm a professional translator graduated from Universidad Nacional de La Plata, Argentina, in 2012. For several years, I was a teacher of English as a second language. I've been traveling the world since 2014, and I can proudly say that I've been to 15 countries. Aarhus has been my home since 2016. I've been working professionally as a translator since 2018, combining this role with content and copywriting in English and Spanish for different companies.

Klasse and up. In addition to this, I’m one of the 4 founders of a “lektiecafé” where we promote learning of languages and other topics. In my case I teach Spanish and English to the youth in Vollsmose. I joined the Spanish team because I think It’s important to bring the news to the people so they can stay tuned with the everyday life in Denmark and it’s much easier If It’s in your own language, in this case in Spanish.

English team

Cicek Eris

English Team (Curator)

I’m Cicek - originally from Istanbul and now a resident of Copenhagen since 2021. As a Translation Studies major I work as an editor and translator. Having faced the difficulties of staying informed while adapting to a new country where I didn’t speak the native language, I wanted Last Week in Denmark to reach a wider audience. I volunteer for two Denmark-based associations. I also curate content for my newsletter, Denmark Happenings - It’s my way of helping people who are tired of sifting through an overwhelming array of events which are often Danish and relatively expensive. As someone who understands the complexities of navigating a new political and cultural landscape, I’m passionate about providing valuable insights into local news and cultural events to fellow internationals.

Punitha Kumar

English Team (Curator)

Hej! A Malaysian at heart, I’ve been in the land of ‘kaffe’ and ‘konditori’ since Aug 2022. Professionally, I’ve always been in the media and communications industry and have held roles such as journalist, copywriter, and senior editor. Today, when I’m not hyphenating and fixing commas, or reading about the latest news that would be of interest to my fellow internationals, you can find me learning Danish (mit dansk er ikke så godt men jeg lærer) to add to my portfolio of languages, experimenting with resin, and determined to try as many spandauers and tebirkers my new home has to offer.
