The Consumer Council (Forbrugerråd) has called upon the energy companies to stop the practice of making the customers pay for a “predicted consumption” instead of the actual consumption. Indeed, you get your money back at the end of the year if you have consumed less, but you shouldn’t act as a bank for your energy company. The “aconto” practice is from the olden days, when someone needed to go and read the electricity meter manually.
