She is one of the most famous Danish commissioners, as she left her mark by getting tech giants to pay their taxes in the European Union. To be able to focus on her campaign, she took unpaid leave from her position at the European Commission. If she succeeds, Denmark will need to nominate a new commissioner (at least until the elections in the early summer of 2024).
