Moving to a new country means expanding the concept of “home.” For those of us who make up the international community in Denmark, this search goes far beyond finding an apartment or navigating local processes; it is about adding new layers of belonging to our lives. Vejle is a city with a vibrant energy and a community that never stops growing. Precisely to enhance this dynamism and open new channels for connection, the initiative to bring Sofar Sounds to our city was born: an effort to celebrate local diversity and create new bridges through music, art, and collaboration.

The Origin: The Ideal Ecosystem for a Global Community
Sofar Sounds is, by definition, a global music house that transforms everyday spaces into intimate stages around the world. When looking at Vejle’s profile, with its constantly growing international community and cultural openness, it becomes clear that the city is the ideal ecosystem for a format like this. It is not about rewriting what already exists, but about activating a meeting point where the city’s different cultures can naturally come together.
My involvement in the project stems precisely from that vision. I decided to join the local team to contribute my professional experience of more than ten years in arts management in my home country. As a migrant navigating a new environment, it was incredibly rewarding to find in Sofar Sounds an organization that saw this international background and my global perspective as a strength and an opportunity to enrich the project, rather than a barrier. Participating in the coordination of this first chapter has been a deeply enriching experience, helping to build the bridge to make this ecosystem work and ensuring that both talent and audiences find a space designed for genuine connection.

A Synergy Between Local Businesses and Global Talent
One of the most inspiring pillars of this format is that music is not confined to large stadiums; instead, it lives in the heart of the community, boosting local places and commerce. That is why our first edition will take place at L’Angolo, a beloved, Italian-owned local business. This space perfectly encapsulates the spirit of the project: the warmth and hospitality of Southern Europe rooted right here on Danish soil. By hosting the concert in a place with such a strong identity, we are not only offering a unique and cozy acoustic experience, but we are also actively showcasing and supporting the hard work of the independent entrepreneurs who bring Vejle’s streets to life.
This synergy naturally extends to the stage. The artistic curation for this chapter has been meticulously designed to reflect the diversity of our society, opening the microphone to emerging musicians of different nationalities, including both local and international creators. For these independent artists, Sofar Sounds represents an invaluable showcase, a space where their work takes center stage before an audience ready to listen with an open heart. By attending, the community does not just enjoy an evening of discovery; it becomes a direct driving force supporting the livelihood and visibility of emerging talent.

The Ideal Space to Connect (and Feel at Home)
If you are an international living in the region, our events are designed with you in mind. Often, large crowds or traditional bars make genuine conversations difficult. Sofar Sounds breaks that mold through an atmosphere built on absolute respect: the audience sits close, the setting is intimate, and the music is the main character.
This dynamic provides the perfect ground for a very special social synergy to take place. It is a safe and exciting space where residents of the region can meet and connect. It is, in essence, a perfect opportunity to expand your support network in a healthy and vibrant environment.
The arrival of Sofar Sounds in Vejle on June 20th is an invitation to actively participate in the social fabric of the city we live in today. It is not just about going to listen to music on a Saturday afternoon; it is about showing that, no matter where we come from, art and community always make us feel at home.
