Welcome to ParentLab – An English-speaking parent community based in Copenhagen

-

Parenthood is one of the most challenging, profound and life altering experiences of a person’s life. It’s a pivotal time when the brain and body are transformed. Parents are often left feeling lonely and untethered to their previous identities, all while nourishing the blossoming of a new life. Mix in the added challenges faced as an International navigating a new subsect of the Danish healthcare system, where baby classes are often only offered in Danish and focused primarily on the child, leaving the parents wanting for more as they tread through the early (foggy) days of parenthood. As an American living in Denmark, Carly Spring’s first barsel (maternity leave) experience with her assigned mother’s group wasn’t quite as good as she had envisioned. So, Spring created her own. Impressively, what began as a cozy group of 6, quickly grew to 80. A community was born.

Fast forward to her second barsel and Spring was equipped with the experience and understanding of what she would crave as a new mom – Community, curiosity and connection – These became the fundamental building blocks of ParentLab, a new community learning space where parents gather to connect and enjoy an intellectual experience filled with creativity and social connection. Where English is the primary language (Danes are of course very welcome!) and you’re encouraged to show up as you are, unapologetically, with baby (and all the gear these tiny humans seem to require) in tow.

From flexible and stress-free Stroller Sessions in Kongens Have every Wednesday morning (free!), to upcoming workshops and events focused on Identity After Parenthood, Parenting Across Cultures & Life Before Language. Offering the opportunity to explore yourself and the journey you’ve embarked on. Sharing in the discovery of parenthood in a supportive, inquisitive and encouraging atmosphere. The first three-part pilot series “Identity After Parenthood” begins on February 18th. To find out more details and sign up – visit parentlab.dk.
